Bio/Contact

Todd has been making pipes professionally since the age of 19. At 37, he considers it not just a job, but a life-long vocation. Outside of his family, his greatest sense of joy and fulfillment comes from sharing his work with collectors and patrons around the world.

CLASSICAL TRAINING:

Todd first apprenticed with Tom Eltang in 2001, and later worked with Lars Ivarsson. He is skilled in both the original schools of Danish pipe making (Sixten and P. Rasmussen) and has collaborated on pipes with other masters such as H. Tokutomi and S. Bang. He has a Masters of Art from Yale University and is particularly known for his unique art shapes. His work is prized by collectors around the world.

PASSING ON THE TRADITION:

Todd has a passion for teaching, and has trained many US and international pipe makers including Abe Herbaugh, Adam Davidson, Adam Remington, Brad Pohlmann, Bruce Weaver, Grant Batson, Jared Coles, Jonas Rosengren, Pete Prevost, Sam Adebayo, Yeti (Micah Cryder) and others. He believes pipe making is a craft that must be passed down from master to student, just as he learned it.

THE COLLECTORS:

No artist can sustain his work without a dedicated group of collectors and patrons. Todd’s work reflects his tremendous respect for the men and women who spend their hard-earned money to collect it. This means that even the smallest detail is given attention, and each piece is finished to the highest standards of quality and beauty.

Pipes are my window into the world.
